Government sets up five task forces to turn MSMEs future-ready

The government has made five task forces to make India’s MSME sector future-ready and formulate a concrete strategy towards making the country a leading exporter, as per top government official. According to reports, MSME Secretary Mr A K Sharma was confident of implementing the futuristic initiatives as early as the start of next year.

In a virtual session organised by FICCI, he stated that five ministerial task forces, which will be headed by key officers have been formed. These five task forces would work for a month in five key areas where we feel that the industry of the country and particularly the MSME sector should head towards. MSMEs suffered a lot due to the coronavirus pandemic. With lockdown, shortage of labour and social distancing norms in place the manufacturing sector has been significantly impacted further slowing down the economy of the nation.

In addition he mentioned that one of the five areas identified is Industry 4.0, including elements such as artificial intelligence, 3D and virtual reality, and this task force has been formed with the objective of making India a global leader in Industry 4.0.
