Warehousing in India to get a boost in Tier II and III cities

With government’s push on ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatamnirbhar Bharat’, focus is on making India a manufacturing powerhouses. According to the market research report titled ‘Indian Industrial & Logistics Gearing Up a Global Manufacturing Hub’, a joint report by US-based Binswanger Commercial Real Estate Services and ANAROCK group, this will drive warehousing clusters to emerge rapidly beyond the big cities and into Tier 2 and 3 cities.

Moreover as per the report, demand for small and multi-location warehouses is expected to rise tremendously. Most of these emerging clusters are aligned with the industrial and freight corridors being developed in the country. The cities where the warehousing clusters are expected to come are Ludhiana, Ambala, Lucknow, Siliguri, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Coimbatore, Kochi, Nagpur, Indore, Jaipur and Dholera.

In the current scenario, the market drivers for Grade A warehousing properties across the country are demand from e-commerce and 3PL owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. There is big opportunity for Grade A warehousing development in the smaller cities amidst rising demand.
