Logistics on a rebound amid accelerated demand from e-commerce sector

As per reports, Gurugram-based logistics start-up Pidge witnessed a rapid growth from business to consumer and D2C brands (Direct to Consumers). The start-up was able to offer safe and consistent service to all its customers who were holed up inside their houses during the nationwide lockdown days. The logistics sector has experienced a surge in demand owing to the ongoing pandemic and increased e-commerce activity. With the logistics sector witnessing a rebound, many logistics companies, especially start-ups, are witnessing growth opportunities.

Another prominent logistics firm, Ecom Express also witnessed growth and is planning to expand its reach to 27,000 plus pincodes. The company is also adding new facility centres and warehousing spaces. Covid-19 pandemic has emerged as a catalyst for the growth of e-commerce sector. This has further been the market driver of logistics sector growth.

With the coronavirus pandemic on the downward trends and commercial activity on an upward trend in India, road transportation industry is going to witness steady growth. In addition, according to market reports, there is a high probability of relocation of global supply chains to India and increase in domestic demand would drive the demand for warehousing and logistics.
