India all set to be Electric Vehicle manufacturing hub

As the cost of manufacturing and operating electric vehicles (EVs) is anticipated to fall substantially owing to drop in prices of lithium-ion batteries, India is expected to become a hub for manufacturing EVs and EV components, as per a statement byHon’ble Union minister for road transport, highways and MSMEs Nitin Gadkari, at a recent event hosted by Amazon.

In India, government is also focusing on other alternative such as hydrogen fuel cell-driven EVs. In addition, the recently announced scrappage scheme is also going to enhance manufacturing of EVs for exports.

As per reports, government is also urging automobile manufacturers to enhance local production of EVs to increase the number of zero-emission vehicles plying on Indian roads, cut down air pollution and reduce India’s dependence on crude oil imports.
