Popular fast fashion brand, H&M switches to paper packaging

With COVID-19 pandemic and imminent lockdowns, e-commerce sector witnessed a surge in activity. This further resulted in a flood of boxes and bags along with plastic packaging, which ended up in trash. In order to cut down used of plastic packaging popular retailer, H&M announced that it replaced the plastic packaging on the outside of delivery parcels with paper shortly before the end-of-the-year shopping crush.

The paper packaging was released with the H&M brand in select markets, and also will be used at for women’s ready-to-wear and other products sold under its brand during the early part of this year.

In a statement, the company mentioned that they introduced the packaging because it is good for both the environment and customer. The company is working towards improving packaging throughout logistics supply chain. In addition, by introducing this new multi-brand packaging, H& M is creating a huge impact by replacing the outer plastic with a paper solution. This is a beginning towards sustainability and the paper packaging used is also recyclable.
