Uflex, Indian packaging company launches paper-based tube packaging

Recently, Indian packaging major Uflex has introduced paper-based tubes named Kraftika under its FlexiTubes brand. According to the flexible packaging specialist, the Kraftika tubes use moisture-resistant kraft paper sandwiched between layers of plastic. This enables a plastic reduction of almost 50% to 70% based on the product's application and tube diameters.

The company claims that the virgin kraft paper used for the tubes have a low cobb value (low moisture absorption) and high burst value (tube integrity). The paper is FSC certified and provides stiffness to the body of the tube allowing bounce-back properties. In addition, the paper also prevents collapsing of the tube even after continuous usage and reduction of the contents. The brand focuses on providing important features such as attractiveness for shelf appeal, barrier for protecting the ingredients and anti-counterfeit features for brand protection.

Paper packaging is getting very popular amidst the rising concerns around plastic pollution. Paper has many benefits like sustainability, safety and shelf appeal further driving its demand from the end-users.
