WayCool Foods & IIT Hyderabad partner to develop innovative food packaging
As per media reports, Chenna-based Agri-supply chain start-up WayCool Foods has signed a three year MoU has joined hands with IIT Hyderabad to develop antimicrobial food packaging material by using biopolymers. The company has signed 3 years of MoU to reach the objective.
The aim was to develop an economically viable and biodegradable packaging that would retain the freshness of fruits and vegetables longs, leading to a reduction in food wastage across the supply chain by 20 per cent, as per the company statement.
WayCool Foods would invest close to Rs two million over a period of three years of this association. The collaboration with IIT Hyderabad is to co-develop a sustainable alternate packaging solution, which further supplements company’s in-house research and development and innovation efforts.
