Indian Railways CLW creates a manufacturing milestone
Indian Railways led by Hon’ble Piyush Goyal recently created a ‘Make in India’ milestone by recording a highest locomotive production last year. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its pertaining challenges, the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) - the locomotive manufacturing factory of Indian Railways is breaking all the previous manufacturing records.
The Production Unit of the national transporter accelerated its production to a record level in the year 2020. According to the details shared by the Railway Ministry, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works produced as many as 250 electric locomotives (WAG-9 HC, 33071) in 188 working days, as against 190 days in 2019.
India is pushing schemes like ‘Make in India’ and also changing policies to boost domestics manufacturing to drive economic redevelopment.
