Germany-based Webasto plans to set up factory for sunroofs in India

According to news reports, German car parts giant Websato is all set to establish a new factory in India for sunroofs. The demand for sunroofs is growing rapidly in India owing to the revival of passenger vehicles market.

The company is planning to invest Rs 250 crore for the new manufacturing facility that will come up at Pune, catering to models meant for sale in India as well as for exports. For around a decade, Webasto has been located in the Pune region of India. As the new facility gets set, the company is hopeful of extending their capacity to manufacturing of roof systems while also establishing a testing center in the country.

As demand continues to remain strong for sunroofs in the country, Webasto will be hiring engineers in line with factory expansion. From 2021, they will manufacture roofs for some recently-acquired Indian projects at the new plant.
