Dabur launches a special initiative to drive sustainability

One of the top FMCG brands, Dabur has launched a myriad of positive initiatives to encourage and ensure sustainability on a large-scale. In a bid to turn into a more sustainable and environmental friendly organisation they have been collecting, processing and recycling millions of kilograms of waste.

There are many challenges and roadblocks on the path to sustainability, one of them being - cutting down on the use of packaging materials without affecting customer convenience.

Recently, Dabur has launches an initiative that is bound to set an example for the rest of the industry. Single-use and secondary packaging are usually discarded into the waste bin after purchase. So, they chose to remove the cartons in which the products are sold.Dabur India has decided to go carton-free for one of their main products — Dabur Red toothpaste.

The paper which will be saved by not using outer cartons and will be repurposed to create notebooks for underprivileged children with the support of a New Delhi-based NGO, Child Rights and You (CRY).

The company has collaborated with Reliance Retail to help with the sale of the toothpaste without the carton packaging in self-service stores or trade outlets.With this unique sustainable measure, the company plans to collect 100 per cent of the waste that it generates through its product packaging.
