Tell us about your company and product profile.

Ecoware is a market leader in the food packaging space. Ecoware is India’s first and largest manufacturer of 100% biodegradable and compostable tableware made for plant biomass. Ecoware has a portfolio of 28+ products made from the waste of common agricultural crops such as sugarcane, rice and wheat. Which are your target markets and which industries are the relevant buyers?

Ecoware is now a well-established brand in the food services industry. The organized Food Services market is valued at $15b growing at 25% CAGR. Larger HoReCa market is valued at $100b growing at 12% CAGR.. With 20+ distributors across the country, Ecoware is the tableware of choice for many household names such as Haldiram’s, Subway, the Indian Railways, etc. Ecoware also services the retail market in both offline and online modes. Ecoware retails on Amazon (India and UAE), and on its own e-commerce site www.ecoware.in. Ecoware has expanded its footprint beyond India by establishing sales points in Ecuador, Slovakia, Kuwait, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Mauritius.

How is your company and brand dealing with the existing COVID-19 crisis?”

As a company our COVID-19 response has included screening all our employees, everyone undergoes a temperature check and has to wear a mask to enter our facility. Once in the facility, mandatory social distancing of 6 feet between any two people has to be maintained and shift and break times are staggered. Our factory, office and transport vehicles are regularly disinfected as well.

As a brand we see Ecoware becoming even more pertinent as 1) food deliveries increase restaurants and eateries require sustainable takeaway packaging. It’s 2020, no one wants t o be seen as the brand using single use plastic. 2) Also, Indian consumers are shopping more online across all categories especially household supplies, with our own e-commerce shop and extensive presence on Amazon, Ecoware will grow its online sales manifold. 3) As the country opens up, restaurants and bars resume operations safety of self, customers and overall public health is a substantial concern and Ecoware addresses these concerns by providing a safe and hygienic product to consume food in/out of
